The Sabre of Charlemagne is not to be confused with a second weapon which is also ascribed to Charlemagne: Joyeuse which was the coronation sword of the French kings. Le sabre est distinct d'une autre arme attribuée à Charlemagne, Joyeuse dite aussi « épée de Charlemagne ».
